PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Teacher Training program is designed to train licensed cosmetologists in the basic skills required to obtain licensure as an instructor through the State of Delaware, and for competency in entry-level positions in instructional and related career fields. The program includes instruction in cosmetology arts and sciences teaching principles, student learning styles, professional curricula development, instructional planning, instructional methods and aids, student counseling and career assistance, test development, classroom/clinic management, customer service, professionalism, and applicable professional labor laws and regulations. The State of Delaware has specific requirements for teacher training.
PROGRAM LENGTH
Teacher Training I: 250 Clock Hours – Licensed in field for more than 2 years and has over 2 years of recent related work experience.
Teacher Training II: 500 Clock Hours – Licensed in field for less than 2 years and /or less than 2 years of recent related work experience.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE OPTIONS
Full Time: 32.5 hours/week, Monday through Friday 9 AM to 4 PM
Part Time: 19 hours/week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 5 PM to 9 PM & Saturday 8 AM to 3:30 PM

PROGRAM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements: 16 years of age, High School Diploma, GED or Recognized Equivalent. Valid Delaware cosmetologist, barber/master barber or nail technician license.
Teacher Training I: 250 Clock Hours – Licensed in field for more than 2 years and has over 2 years of recent related work experience.
Teacher Training II: 500 Clock Hours – Licensed in field for less than 2 years and /or less than 2 years of recent related work experience.

License Title: Instructor

General: All Applicants must be 16 years of age or older and completed at least 10th grade. A criminal history may be a bar to licensure. Please review Section 18 to see if this applies.
